Business Development Manager

Our client is a market leader that supplies and services the construction industry with steel pipe. To manage their continued growth in the marketplace, they are looking to add an ambitious and self-motivated individual to join the team.

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for maintaining positive relationships within their existing account base and acquiring new business. The ideal candidate brings more than just a skillset. They are looking for the right attitude and aptitude and these characteristics may outweigh years of experience and credentials.

Office Location: Delta, BC
Reports To: Regional Manager – Edmonton/BC

The Role:

  • Outside sales: This role is heavily focused on the relationships built with major Foundation Contractors, Engineers, Site Superintendents, Estimators, etc. in BC and the BDM’s success is highly dependent on the depth and strength of those relationships
  • Selling to a broad spectrum of people
  • Involvement with individuals at all levels within an organization. This would range from boardroom presentations to onsite demos.
  • Understanding the ebbs and flows and following trends in the market
  • Keeping sales management up to date with sales activity via. reports (CRM, call logs, work plans)
  • Plan and manage work schedule
  • Building a strong personal network and be the face of the company with existing and past clients
  • Project management duties, administration work, handling purchase orders
  • Given a lot of autonomy and independence to be successful in your role

What you will have:

  • 2+ years of B2B sales experience (industrial background would be an asset)
  • University or Post-Secondary education (an asset but not required)
  • A STRONG desire to be successful
  • Go-getter mentality, easy to train, quick learner, self-directed, proactive
  • Strong relationship builder
  • Proven communication (verbal, written), interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Exemplary time management skills
