The Business Development Manager is responsible for the overall guidance of technical sales of the companies’ products in the Eastern Canada Sales Region (Ontario- Maritimes). Focused on sales growth of new and existing accounts, the BDM will ensure current and potential accounts receive excellent customer service.

Primary Duties

  • Deliver product presentations and training.
  • Develop and execute territory strategies, tactics, and plans
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, Representatives and Distribution network.
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of customer processes applications.
  • Drive sales growth to achieve sales targets
  • Daily utilization of CRM for all sales activities and opportunities.
  • Establish relationships within customer organizations to maintain an awareness of upcoming capital projects and maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) requirements to identify applications for products.
  • Execute territory specific sales growth initiatives as determined by Senior Management.
  • Identify and target key decision makers to develop relationships at appropriate and varied levels across customer groups and organizations including but not limited to the following:
    • End user engineers and engineering managers
    • End user field level, district or regional supervisors or managers
    • End user Operations supervisors and managers
    • Engineering consulting firms and EPCM organizations, as applicable
    • Gas plants, refineries, upgraders and petrochemical processing plants
    • Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)
    • Industrial and Commercial distributors
    • Procurement staff for all of the above
  • Maintain ethical business practices.
  • Negotiate sales agreements / orders.
  • Plan and work industry trade shows.
  • Provide technical expertise on products and applications.
  • Provide technical expertise to determine feasible and cost effective solutions.
  • Promote customer-focus by executing a winning cross-selling strategy.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or suitable related technical experience.

Success Factors

  • A solid track record of successful industrial sales experience in a technologically advanced environment or suitable background in an industrial engineering, project management or operations environment.
  • Knowledge of process heating and filtration applications together with an appropriate understanding of electrical and heat transfer concepts.
  • Able to effectively develop multi-level working relationships with customers and representative agencies
  • Able to prepare and deliver effective technical sales presentations.
  • Able to prioritize workload and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to quickly learn technical concepts and product applications.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office( PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and Dynamics CRM
  • Superior analytical problem solving skills.
  • Superior negotiation skills.
  • Superior verbal and written English communication skills. French language an asset.
  • Values teamwork.
