Outside Sales Representative (OEM)

Our client is a world-wide leader in the distribution and supply of products and solutions for the electrical, power, networking and security sectors. The high-performing sales team strives to deeply understand their customer’s challenges and recommends the right solutions. Due to continued growth, our client is adding an additional Outside Sales Representative.  The successful candidate will be a strong sales professional selling products and solutions to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) with a focus on business development.

Position Summary:  

  • Responsible for new and existing business. You are expected to be autonomous; however, you will work in close collaboration with the Inside sales, Global account Managers and the location manager for complex pitches and strategies.
  • Work in collaboration with the inside sales, operations, credit, finance and legal teams to ensure satisfactory completion of all processes that may affect your customers experience.
  • Serve a variety of market segments by delivering and suggesting the right solutions that meet the needs of the customer
  • Make prospecting calls to uncover new opportunities
  • Develop new accounts, handle customer enquiries and quote creation
  • Regularly engage teammates and vendor partners to provide a total customer solution and grow market share
  • Prepare sales activity & expense reports and attend scheduled 1 on 1 reviews
  • Participate in sales meetings, workshops and seminars when required

 The ideal candidate will have:

  • Sales and account management experience with a track record of proactively growing new business
  • A strong desire to compete and ability to be resilient in the face of rejection
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, confident and driven
  • Strong organization and planning skills and ability to multitask with minimal supervision
  • 3-5 years of experience in a sales role in the commercial and industrial electrical industry
  • Knowledge of control products such as fuses, drives, power supplies, controls and relays
  • Experience dealing with medium and large sized OEM’s
