Process Engineer

Our client is a well-established global advanced textiles and materials processing company. They are looking for a Process Engineer to join their team located in the Southwest of Ottawa.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Process Engineer is primarily responsible for leading process engineering activities at the Plant by analyzing processes, identifying and characterizing problem areas, and recommending and implementing optimal changes and improvements.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Modify products & processes as assigned to fit customers’ specific applications.
• Assist in the development of Production Procedures.
• Upgrade and improve processes in order to reduce variation, increase efficiency, and increase profitability.
• Provide Technical Service by communicating information regarding our products and processes as needed.
• Lead and Coordinate continuous improvement activities.
• Support the other core members of the teams as needed.
• Specify Operating Instructions & as needed Special Instructions.
• Explore and develop new process technology.
• Participate in the educational process (ie: assist in training of other employees) as needed.
• Review process equipment capability and address deficiencies as necessary.
• Investigate customer complaints and follow up as needed.
• Be on call for technical questions and issues during non-business hours.
• Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Requirements: 

• Post-secondary education required, College or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
• 2-5 years of process engineering experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Good leadership qualities.
• Self-starter with excellent organizational skills.
• The ability to work in teams is essential.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Computer skills, minimally word processing and spreadsheet applications.
• Experience in statistical analysis, design of experiments and SPC.
• Experience in statistical analysis, design of experiments and SPC.
• Knowledge of Lean Principles is considered an asset.
• Experience in extrusion, weaving or papermaking technology.
• Management experience or interest in pursuing management opportunities.
• Knowledge of data acquisition, mechanical testing, and process control.
