Summit Search Group has partnered with a local leader in construction, who is successful due to their loyal team, culture-heavy approach, and strong reputation in Winnipeg.  Together, we are recruiting a Senior Vice President of Construction. The Senior Vice President of Construction (SVP) will be responsible for the strategy and leadership of the organization. With this executive role comes a rewarding shareholder opportunity with our client.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative and energetic construction organization as an executive.  Our client offers a unique opportunity which encompasses all aspects of project management and team management. The successful SVP of Construction has extensive executive experience in Construction Management, and has worked on multi-million dollar commercial projects. Paired with comprehensive commercial experience would be a demonstrated history of managing construction and project managers. The SVP is a partner to the CEO for vision, strategy and planning for the organization overall.

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire construction department.
  • Project scheduling and resource planning.
  • Senior executive management tasks including cost controlling, quality control, timelines, budgeting, leadership and technical know-how from conception to completion.
  • Trouble-shooting, problem solving, dispute resolution as required.
  • Strategic planning, vision, values of the company.
  • Development and retainment of relationships with trades, consultants, clients, staff.
  • Assist with scheduling, select costing, and project planning.
  • Provide feedback to various departments based on projects under-construction / completed projects.
  • Manage the cash flow for each project as well as trade/supplier cash flow monthly.
  • Leading the recruitment and retention of employees and leaders, conducting performance reviews, and other human resource functions.

 

Skills and Education: 

  • 10-20 years of construction management experience, specifically in a senior leadership role.
  • Post-secondary education, P.Eng preferred (Engineering, Architecture, Construction etc). MBA and/or PMP is an asset.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a people is a requirement.
  • Strong technical expertise and communication skills.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Extensive commercial construction experience on projects larger than $40M  +
  • Project Management experience a must (MBA and/or PMP ideal).
  • Entrepreneurial drive and self-motivated.
