Technical Support Specialist – Medical Equipment Industry

Position Scope:

This position uses a wide array of knowledge, customer service, education, support, technical skills and critical thinking abilities to facilitate hospital/staff support. The individual must serve as a contributing member of the team through collaboration with sales and service while championing the company’s values.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively collaborate with internal teams/departments to promote a culture of inclusiveness and cooperation
  • Responsible to live and exemplify the Company’s values: Integrity, Accountability, People, and Performance.
  • Provide effective, proficient, and timely service, education, training and support to all customers in direct support of the sales and service teams to ensure optimal customer satisfaction.
  • Provide clinical surgical support by operating/supporting all Endoscopy equipment and other portfolio solutions i.e. Medical, MedSurg, Communications, Orthopaedics
  • Anticipate related device/solution needs of the hospital/staff, and provides support, training and education pre/post and during procedures.
  • Responsible for trouble-shooting and maintaining Endoscopy and Communications equipment
  • Responsible for trouble-shooting and maintaining solutions in Medical, MedSurg, Communications, Orthopaedics
  • Work with surgeons, patients, O.R. personnel, central processing, biomedical, and all other related personnel to maintain partnerships, support and relationships
  • Maintain knowledge base of equipment and disposable products
  • Assist the Sales Representative in providing physicians and O.R. personnel with information on new products
  • Assist with the service department and Field service staff for field service support and information
  • Adhere to hospital policies, standards and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

 

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for individual and group communication
  • Able to read and understand technical manuals extensively
  • Must be self-motivated, self-reliant and able to work with little supervision
  • Hospital department, Operating room experience and demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, surgical procedures, and techniques
  • Must have near vision acuity (corrected) color vision, mobility, bending, standing, stooping, and finger dexterity
  • Must be able to generate and explain detailed forecasts, guidelines, and procedures
  • Must be able to analyze non-routine product issues using independent judgment
  • Must be able to observe and correct minute inconsistencies
  • Respects patient confidentiality
  • Must be able to travel up to 20%

 

Education and Experience:

  • University Degree Preferred, ideally in Kinesiology
  • Related experience in the field of MedSurg, surgical instruments and endoscopic procedures preferred
