Territory Sales Representative – Construction & Industrial Industry

Our client, a supplier of construction materials, is seeking a Territory Sales Representative to promote their products to existing and potential customers in the Greater Ottawa Area.



  • Understand and engage in the Company’s Health & Safety culture. Follow Health & Safety Policies and Procedures and ensure their application. Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure that all work safety measures are taken at the job site. Take part in Health and Safety start-up meetings.
  • Manage a portfolio of +/- 300 customers, follow-up on opportunities, quoted and granted projects, quote write-ups in Salesforce, etc.
  • Develop a strategic plan for each customer.
  • Visit customers and negotiate prices according to management guidelines.
  • Work closely with the Credit Department and obtain all necessary information, termination of contract. Ensure that customers make timely payments.
  • Inquire on customer needs. Prepare summaries pertaining to the customers’ financial situation, projects and tenders to assist in the supervisor’s decision-making process. Offer suggestions as to the best manner of closing the transaction.
  • Take responsibility for the customer’s satisfaction. Work closely with Operations and Logistics to ensure the timely delivery of quality products.
  • Together with Quality Control, resolve technical problems and help customers with the challenges at their job sites.
  • Strengthen the relationship with customers while promoting products.
  • Reach sales objectives for the market area.
  • Promote the Company’s image and products.
  • Collect economic information on the customers and on the competitors’ activities in the market.


Education and Experience:

  • Postsecondary Education, preferably in Marketing or a Civil Engineering Technician’s Diploma.
  • 3 to 5 years of related sales experience


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bilingualism (French and English) is a must
  • Good knowledge of the construction industry desirable
  • Experience with the CRM automated sales tools (Salesforce, preferably)
  • Solid experience in sales
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
  • Basic sales and technical knowledge necessary
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
